Sundays at Home #152

It's hard to believe this is already the last weekend in March!

Has the spring cleaning bug hit you yet? I went through a downstairs storage closet, pitching and donating, and it felt so good to lighten up! (That was until I looked around and saw how much the rest of the house got "undone" while I was tackling the closet! ;)

I'm sticking with the mantra "little by little...

Anyway, so glad you are here!

Five (Easy!) Farmhouse-Style Spring Decorating Ideas

Here at our farmhouse, spring decor primarily consists of three things...
Eggs, nests, and flowers or flowering branches.

Adding these simple touches couldn't be easier!

Here are five ideas to get you started...

Sundays At Home #151

Welcome to Sundays at Home friends!

I shared this image of our entryway on Instagram the other day, showing off the flowering branches. Someone commented on how serene the space looked. So now I have a confession. In this very same space the other morning, we had a chicken trotting around as I tried to get our three sons out the door for school. A chicken. In our house. Boys lauging-yelling and scrambling for shoes. And me. Racing down those stairs, "Get it out before it..." :) So serene, right?

We try to put our best foot forward. And that's what this party is about... inspiration! But should you ever be tempted to feel inadequate as you look through the posts of beautiful ideas that people link up here, remember there are "behind the scenes" images we often don't see. And sometimes they involve a chicken in the house and a frazzled mom.

Our Farmhouse (Spring!) Porch...

Welcome to our front porch, where we're looking forward to the arrival of spring. It feels so good to have cleaned up the porch and added fresh flowers and plants. I think it's my way of trying to give nature a little nudge that we are ready for spring! Here in the Pacific Northwest, it's not feeling very "springy" yet, but we know its on its way...

CiderPress Lane: What If Community and Dinner Really Do Change Everything?

I'm excited to share this beautiful and compelling story with you today.
The pictures are gorgeous, the food - delicious, and the cause will stir your heart...

I first met Kelly, author of Dinner Changes Everything, several years ago. It's a joy to see her family's story unfold as they live life for more than just themselves. I asked Kelly to share their story with us, and am so happy she said yes!

In Case You Missed It! (Farmhouse Style Decorating and Tour)

Happy new week!

I don't know about you, but by the time Monday morning hits,
our house looks like we live in Tornado Alley instead of the Pacific Northwest. Laundry wrinkling as it waits patiently to be folded, a science project "work area" taking over our dining room table, basketballs and legos lying around, proving some fun happened over the weekend.

(Even though they insist there was no time yet for fun - and why oh why does Monday show up so quickly?!)

So, at the start of the week, once I get our three boys off to school, I try to catch up, and tame this chaos we call home. That's the purpose of this post. To catch up! Below you will find some of the most-read posts of the past month, including our farmhouse kitchen in the making, fun farmhouse finds, a farmhouse-style herb garden, and part two of one of my favorite farmhouse stories ever...

Think of it this way - If your weekend wasn't as relaxing as you might've hoped, now's your chance!
Grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy a few minutes to yourself as you get "caught up."

And hey, maybe that laundry really will fold itself... ;)

Sundays At Home #149

Are you as ready for spring as I am? There are rumors of snow coming on Monday, but I'm ignoring them.

We may have to wait just a bit for spring to arrive outdoors, but there's no reason it can't show up indoors now... I recently shared our early spring decor as part of the Spring at the Farmhouse Tour

Spring at the Farmhouse Tour...

The smell of hyacinths, chirping chicks covered in baby down, little boys playing baseball in the yard, cheerful cherry blossoms lining the gravel driveway... It's spring at the farmhouse!

Well it's almost spring at the farmhouse, but it is spring in the farmhouse, and I'm so glad you stopped by. It's an honor for me to be joining my talented friends on this tour today. If you're making the tour loop, you may be coming from Jersey Girl In The SouthEither way, you'll find links to all of the charming home tours at the end of this post...

I love the beautiful simplicity of farmhouse style. And spring is no exception. This time of year, I enjoy incorporating flowers in woven baskets, herbs in galvanized buckets, and flowering branches from the yard.

The Battle At Our Mini Farm...

We recently celebrated our middle son Noah's 11th birthday here at our little farmstead.
Having three sons, I'm always on the lookout for fun boys' birthday party ideas.

(Some products and services have been received in exchange for promotion. All reviews are 100% my own.)

We found Laser Tag Live, which is a local company that would bring all their equipment to our house.
We loved the idea that the boys would have a blast while getting physical exercise outdoors.
(Not that I wouldn't want 18 boys playing inside our home... I mean, what could possibly go wrong? ;)
